Surge Lunches meet the first Wednesday of every month from August-May. We seek to bring a diverse range of topics into the Surge lunch. Sometimes our lunches are more academic and others are more practical. Last year our lunches covered topics like: Loving Your Muslim Neighbor, The Church & the Black Lives Matters Movement, and Understanding the Biblical Narrative.
The lunch ranges from 30-100+ leaders within our city who gather to fellowship over a great (free) meal and to learn alongside and from one another. We are made up of pastors, non-profit leaders, and other leaders within our city. Sign up for our newsletter to get emails about our topics so you can RSVP and join us.
Surge offers intensives designed to equip pastors and church leaders in topics that are essential to cultivating healthy missional churches. Our Surge Seminars are robustly theological and provide leaders with many opportunities to be lifelong learners alongside one another.

*Dates & Times:

Friday, March 11th, 6-9 pm: What is the Gospel? Part Two
Roosevelt Community Church
924 N 1st St,Phoenix, AZ 85004
Description: The gospel is the center of the Christian faith. Yet there are various understandings of what the gospel is, and many understandings are deeply shaped by American dominant culture. In four sessions on two different nights we will probe this question. We will examine the historical and cultural backdrop of the announcement of the gospel by Jesus and also some of Paul's summaries of the gospel. We will try to summarize our findings to answer the important question: what is the gospel?
*these are two dates, but one course
Non-Profit Leadership and the Local Church
Speakers: Tyler Johnson, Dennae Pierre, and various guest speakers
Dates & Times: February 29-March 2nd 9am-4pm
Description: This three day leadership intensive will be an encouraging and powerful time for non-profit leaders to be blessed and stirred in the work that they are doing. Partnership between local churches and Christian non-profits are vital as we seek to bless our city. During our time together, we will focus on strengthening relationships between para-church and local church ministries, identifying how para-churches can effectively serve local churches (and visa versa), and give opportunity to learn from seasoned and respected non-profit practitioners in a close, small setting. We will also spend time diving deep into what transformational leadership looks like and ways to lead our organizations toward fruitful and faithful engagement with our mission.
*In order to make the most of this experience for our participants, this seminar requires an application process. Surge will select a limited number of participants for this three day seminar. Please contact us for the application information and cost.
